Rescuing the day

A wet start to the day led to a change of plan. We booked a visit to the Bonawe Iron Furnace on the banks of Loch Etive. It was remarkably well preserved and interestingly was set up by Cumbrians at a time when charcoal was the main fuel. Following the visit we then had a walk to 
Loch Etive to see the ruined pier where the iron was transported from. The extra shows what remains of the pier. I rather like the textures of the wood.

Rain then stopped play and we retreated inside for coffee and returned to our accommodation for lunch. After donning full waterproofs we headed to a local forest for a walk. It did offer some shelter under the Scots pines. We were surprised to discover a gorge running through the wood. It was difficult to get a photo in the deepest parts of the gorge. However the lower parts indicate how much water was already coming down the river. I enjoyed playing around with the camera trying out different shutter speeds although I did not have a tripod to hand.  I rather liked this effect.

By this evening the rain had gone and the sun returned enabling a walk along the beach.
