Lissonota Setosa.
When I got home from work I parked by the outbuilding as normal and, feeling a little tired, I sat for a moment looking at a wood wasp on the dead elderflower stems next to me. I then saw the above insect flying flitting about before settling where I've photographed it.
It was fascinating to watch it's very long ovipositor ( new word to me too) injecting into a crevice in the wood.
I've since learned that it is parasitic to wood feeding moth larva so there must have been eggs of that unfortunate creatures there too.
No longer tired I was entranced by amazing nature happening right next to me!!
