Old school

A 1970/80’s model needs a radio control from the same era. Amongst the treasures in the attic was this piece of memorabilia that fitted the bill. It is a 27 MHz AM set and at the time it was made the wavelength was crowded with teenagers’ buggies and CB radio operators. Neither of whom had any respect for those of us daft enough to shell out £2 a year on a transmitting licence.
Nowadays all these kinds of annoyance have migrated to the vhf/uhf wavelengths and so 27 meg is very peaceful and largely interference free. I’ve charged the battery and left it on load and it’s lasted about 2 hours which is more than enough for an afternoon on the lake.
