A day in Southwold

We had such a lovely day in Southwold. Well we drove towards the Walberswick Ferry end away from the crowds so we were able to find a quiet spot in the dunes. The children had a limit on how far they could wander. Nathaniel was funny when I pointed out the lighthouse and told him he wasn’t allowed to go there. The daughters and I, however, escaped and walked 2 miles along the beach to the pier from where I took this picture.

We rarely came this far north when we lived here. Felixstowe was closer. When we had visitors we might take them to Thorpeness or Walberswick to go crabbing. Southwold in our day was full of retired navel officers and was considered a bit staid, but it did have the Adnams Brewery and a second hand shop where I got replacement Denby pottery.
