Common Footman Moth #7
Yet another moth, this time a common footman resting in amongst the apple mint in the sunshine. I've never seen or heard of this species before, but I think I have identified it correctly. Apparently it is quite widespread and on the wing between July and August. The common footman name comes from a supposed resemblance to the uniform of a footman!
More good news from Tokyo with 2 more Gold medals for Team GB - one for Charlotte Worthington in the BMX freestyle - I was awake when this was on TV at around 3am and it was very exciting, and the other one for defending pommel horse Olympic Champion Max Whitlock. He was fantastic, going up first and nailing his most difficult routine. Then it was a long wait for the rest of the field to perform, but he was way ahead of all of them - it was brilliant. The other medals of the day were a Silver for the men's 4x100m medley relay in the pool and a Bronze for Declan Brooks in the BMX Freestyle. The Golf came to an exciting conclusion with the bronze medal being decided by a 7-way play-off, and the athletics was great, even if we didn't win any medals. Roll on tomorrow when the cycling starts! Did I mention that I'm really enjoying the Olympics....? :)
Number of GB Medals Today = 2G, 1S, 1B
Cumulative Medals = 10G, 10S, 12B (still holding on to 6th in the medal table)
