The creek clears its throat

Wimbie Creek broke through to the beach last night after a short but intense rainstorm. The creek is technically an ICOLL, or Intermittently Closed and Open Lake or Lagoon, and is usually contained by a broad bank of sand. Occasionally, if there is no breach for any length of time, it is best to stay upwind. The Shire Council denies (to be fair, with scientific support) that the smell is caused by leaching into the creek from a sewage-treatment plant in the catchment. The likelier cause is simply rotting vegetation and sea wrack. Whichever, it's always good to see a breakthrough.
