Pink eye!
My right eye, the one responsible for looking through the view finder of my camera. It looked worse than this a few days ago, so things are improving :-)
We visited the Tilganga Eye Hospital this morning. It was a busy place but we were seen pretty quickly (I get the impression we had special treatment somehow), and the diagnosis was pretty much the same as yesterday's. We paid 100 rupees (about 70 pence) each for the examination and once again I had an aneasthetic and had stuff removed from my eye (painfully). Our drugs were changed slightly and we were told to come back on Thursday.
The Mrs' eye is getting worse, while mine is getting a little better. Hopefully she won't end up having to have the same procedures as me. My sight in my right eye is unclear due to the cornea being damaged, but this I am assured will heal with no problem.
In the evening we went to see the doctor our International Clinic recommended. It was a different experience altogether, he spoke perfect English, was very good at explaining everything and putting us at ease. We even had the office to ourselves (all previous examinations were accompanied by at least 10 other people in the room (and in Tanzen people were looking through the door and windows at us!)). He confirmed that we were pretty much doing the right thing, tweaked our drugs a little again and then sent us home feeling more relaxed.
He reckons we should be well on our way to recovery within a week.
