Bridge of Aspiration

A fortuituos bridge sighting this one.

Had thought that a bridge spotting session would be on the cards while I was in London but due to dampness and plans in other directions I somehow managed to go a whole weekend without seeing the Thames.

However, on Sunday afternoon after a wander round Covent Garden in search of a new sculpture on the side of the Opera House (a very disappointing sculpture as it turned out) I stumbled upon the Bridge of Aspiration.

From a distance and below I wasn't even sure if it was bridge or just a sculpture but there's a handy plaque explaining that it links the ballet school with the opera house - a direct line to the stage, or one for the ballerinas to aspire to crossing. There's some spectacular images of its' inside via google images - all shadows and lines - but as I quit dance when I was 7 cos they wouldn't let me just do the funky stuff I doubt I'll ever get to see inside for real.
