Diary of an Edinburgher

Sociable breakfast

JR gym, me to Uncle A’s after getting sheets hung out in the morning sun, and once Archie had gone off with Robert. When I came back (I just put his washing on), I noticed a spare table at a local sunny cafe that we’ve been meaning to go to of a morning, but something else always happens. So we walked there and sat in the sunshine with coffees, then a salmon, cream cheese and capers bagel to share. Yummy! I texted Robert to tell him where we were, but he was coming past us anyway, and stayed to have a coffee too. Hazel came by, on her way for a run. Then Chrissy came by, on her way to town. Most sociable!

JR washed the roof of the car - those blasted gulls not only disturb the peace, they make such a mess everywhere! Then she popped into town, and I went back to sort out the washing and check on Uncle A, who is really not feeling well at all, and is sleeping much of the day.

When I came home I rang the travel agent re our deposit and possible future travels, and also the window repair people. Our exploded window has been like that for months and months, and it’s quite nice in the morning sun, but we need it fixed.  ‘Oh’ he said, ‘The new glass is here…’ Well, could you come and fix our window soon?

So after all that activity and jobs done, I settled down to watch some Olympics (Sevens rugby, table tennis, plus some surfing, gymnastics and volleyball) then another ‘Hundreds’ women’s cricket match. Perfect! The graphics when deciding if a batter is OUT are terrific - no dubious decisions here! (NB football refs).

Torrential rain definitely getting nearer.
