Opium Fields of Lincolnshire

Over to my Dad's today. He definitely seems to be improving, and I think the cooler weather has played a part in that. He's been less sleepy today, and even felt up to cutting his front lawn after lunch. I helped of course, and it is only a small area of grass. That said it had grown quite long and there were two bagsful of grass!

The mower, a petrol one,  was acquired for free - it had belonged to his neighbour, who was taking it to the tip as it had stopped working. My Dad asked if he could have it, and he took it to bits and fixed it.

Brian fetched me home and we went across country as I needed to find a Blip. I asked to stop near these poppy fields. We thought they must be grown for producing opiate-based medication but apparently not. They are just a rotation crop - wheat grown in a field after them tends to produce a bigger yield. They do sell the poppies though, and it is the buyer that provides the seed to grow them. (Not sure what they do with them! Maybe it is as we thought!) They'll be harvested by combine harvester in mid-August. I chose this shot for Blip as I really like that the poppy seed pods are the colour of the sky!

Watching some of the new Cricket 100 competition. It is pretty entertaining. Bumble (David Lloyd) needs to be on commentary though! He's my favourite commentator on any sport!

Today is Grace's 24th birthday but I haven't seen her yet. She was still asleep when I headed to my Dad's and had left for work when I came home. She had an outing with her friends to a theme park on Thursday. I ordered her presents weeks ago and they still have not arrived! I only have a small packet of vegan sweets to give her today! She and I both need to remember how much longer it takes to get certain things delivered since Brexit!
