A view
Old friends and colleagues have moved to Skye and we visited them for tea. This is their view. We sat in hot sun talking about their move and what it has done for them and their family
Earlier we drove down from Stein, stopping off in Portree for a few items and an ice cream. And gin. We went for a 3k walk round Scorrybreac a headland by the town. It’s a well routed walk and as far as we could tell the land was bought by the McNichols clan internationally. There was a thick but translucent sea mist that obscured the view of Raasay but it gradually lifted to spectacular affect.
For me the best thing was that as a large ungrazed seaside hillside the flowers were spectacular. Unlike the machair these were tall and meadowsweet cream and rosebay willow herb pink dominated but there were also, from a list I wrote, agrimony, valerian, sneezewort, woundwort, tormentil, bog asphodel, yarrow, bog myrtle, foxgloves, angelica, common vetch, tufted vetch and many more. So spectacular.
We stayed the night in Kinloch Lodge with lovely food. Very midgey around the house though so the after dinner walk didn’t last long.
