2021 — Wednesday with Tristan

Our cooked breakfast the past two days was delicious, but I know kids love breakfast cereal too. Tristan had selected his favorite when we were in the grocery store purchasing some items a day ago. He said as long as it was not chocolate cereal his mom would be okay with what he chose. This morning Mr. Fun was eating graham crackers & milk in a bowl and convinced Tristan after he’d had a bowl of his chosen cereal to try a bowl of graham crackers & milk and he did. Tristan then said that it was way better than cereal.

We all decided this was the day to get on the Cayucos shoreline. So I put the harnesses and leashes on the two pups and we were all ready to wander thru this Wednesday.

The pups were crazy thrilled to be on the sand. We don’t take them there much anymore because they’re older and they get tired quickly and then they are all sandy. Today was an exception and one we need to make more often.

We went to the north side of the pier so Tristan could see the tide pools. He had fun climbing all over the rocks and gazing at the underwater world. Because the pups need to keep moving, they just don’t sit for long, I starting walking with them back toward the pier. Tristan and grandpa stayed at the tide pools for awhile longer.

When we all reconnected, we climbed back into the car and decided we wanted to rendezvous with a corn-dog at the Fosters Freeze in Morro Bay. This is the day they are on special. Mr. Fun bought two corn-dogs and a small order of fries for each of us. Two is way over my limit, and fries ... Good grief!

We took the bag of lunch to Bluffs Park overlooking the back bay. The breeze was strong and definitely chilly. We moved from our picnic table in the shade to all huddling together on a sunny park bench. Tristan is quickly learning the value of always bringing a sweatshirt along so, as the temperature changes throughout the adventure he’s prepared.

After we ate I stated, “Hey guys, we’ve just wrecked our dinner again.” They agreed and dinner was erased off the chalkboard of our day’s events.

Mr. Fun and Tristan headed down the big wooden stairs to the shoreline that is covered in large abalone and clam shells; some of them look like they’ve been there for years.

The pups and I headed to the warmth of the car to settle in and wait for our two explorers. The guys arrived awhile later at the car to announce they had found a jellyfish stranded on the shore, but still looked alive, so they grabbed a paddle from one of the row boats and scooped the jellyfish off the shore and placed it into the water.

Mr. Fun suggested we drive to Los Osos just so Tristan could see the back of the back bay. That is where my photo of the bicycle riders was captured. We love bicycles and have logged many many miles pedaling a tandem bicycle south on the Oregon and California coast.

Once we got to Los Osos, we made a quick stop at the Rite-Aid drugstore and then drove another block to the library. One of our favorite librarians. Diana, works there. It was a super fun reunion to see her. She has had weight-loss surgery and weighs 120 pounds less than the last time we saw her. She is half the person she used to be. Amazing. She encouraged us to go to the Mid-State Fair that begins today in Paseo Robles. Attending sounds fun, except that it is inland and the temperature is in the triple digits: 100 degrees F there today. We’d have to leave the pups home for way too long without us; they could not stay in the car. So we most likely won’t be going to the fair.

Our evening was spent at home and sweetened with more of last night’s chocolate cake.
