A Change in the Offing

We were both at work today and while the morning wasn't too hot, afternoon in the studies was hot and humid.  It was a relief to be able to sit out in the garden in the shade at the end of the day.

While we were sitting there relaxing a sudden increase in wind was noticed followed by a perceptible drop in temperature (but only from very hot to hot!).  Looking towards the west, large cumulonimbus clouds were banking up, blocking the sun and you could quite easily imagine a thunder storm brewing.

As I sit here writing two hours later no rain has come, but it still feels thundery, but watching the weather forecast the end of this hot period is coming.  We'll soon be complaining about rain and wishing for warmer weather, rather than the moaning I've heard about it being too hot.
