Rocky Mountain Moments

Broad-tailed Hummingbird

Sunday

This is my 7/18 blip, backblipped on 7/21

I failed miserably at getting a good in-flight shot, but I wanted to show one of our hummie visitors.  We've had at least four visiting our feeder while we've been here.  It's a treat to watch them because we don't have them at home.  I felt a little guilty taking the feeder down later to clean and put away.  We like to get most of our outside stuff stowed the day before we leave so there isn't too much to do in the morning.

It was a beautiful sunny day without a drop of rain.  It has rained every other afternoon, but usually only off and on for a few hours and not heavily.  Thunderstorms in the afternoons are typical July weather, at home as well as in the mountains.  Since it wasn't too windy, we usually sat outside under our awning while it was raining.

I am grateful that our new camphost let us stay an extra night.  The limit is 7 nights but I asked and he said yes.  I told him that I didn't want to drive home in the Sunday traffic, which was true.  It's always backed up with weekenders heading down from the mountains and I'm not very patient. ;-)
