Yuk!
I woke up at 3am last night with a pounding migraine and had to get up to take a Zomig. It was the heat.
It was quite a tiring day today and the hot weather didn't help. I'm not good with too much heat.
We left Rodley this morning and I chose to walk along the canal with Bella while Frank took the boat. We were going as far as Apperley Bridge so we walked about 3 miles - I was faster than the boat!
The reason for mooring in Apperly Bridge was because I needed to go to Sainsbury's to sort out an issue with a swimsuit I bought there on the way down in June. I had noticed after we'd left that I had been charged twice. I'd phoned up and had been assured the lady had written in the diary that I wouldn't be back here for 4-5 weeks.
So off I went - uphill for a mile and a half.
Needless to say there was nothing in the diary and the customer services woman was inferring that there was nothing she could do. I stood my ground though and told her I'd phoned head office and also been to a branch in Leeds who both said I would get a refund at the branch I bought it from. In the end she agreed but when she asked me to tap my bank card I remembered it was on Frank's card! My heart sank at the the thought of walking all the way back to the boat. Anyway, she said she could give me a gift card to to the value.
Phew! I used it to do some shopping then walked back with 2 bags full - thankfully downhill!
The next job was filling up the water tank, emptying the loo cassettes and disposing of the rubbish and recycling.Frank did all that
While I did the laundry as I always do when we have the chance to fill up with water.
By this time we were both sweltering and poor Bella had to lie down with a wet towel over her. I had to put a rug and dog towels on the back deck as the floor was scorching hot for doggy paws.
We moored up and tried to keep cool but the sun was belting down on the boat. I had a coolish shower.
Frank went further along the canal to see if there was a better mooring place and found a nice shady spot with trees on either side so we moved.
The rest of the afternoon was much better.
We could here strange bird calls we've never heard before but couldn't see what they were. Then a lady and her young daughter came along and informed us they were parakeets! Just then one flew past - bright green! The little girl was about 10 and really knowledgeable about birds and wildlife in general and really educated us. She was also collecting discarded rubbish but had no bag so I gave her one of my biodegradable bin bags. It was so heartening to see a child looking after wildlife and the environment.
I've spent ages trying to do Blip with a very poor signal.
The collage shows Muscle man who dropped his litter as he went along - I tried to catch him up to give it him back but he was too fast and I was hot so I just picked it up and binned it.
The litter blips are not from him but found along the canal.
The bum man was at the marina working on a boat. Yuk!
Nearly time for bed and another Hamnet chapter!
I took the duvet out of the cover for a cool nights sleep.
Goodnight :-)X
