WITH A SONG IN MY HEART

By lizzie_birkett

I’m too hot Mum!

We made her a shady place and covered the back deck so she wouldn’t burn her feet. Made sure she had water - but does she drink?  You can take a horse to water…and she is like a little horse.
Even though it has been quite overcast it has been really hot sweaty weather. We had heavy rain last night though so I didn’t need to water the garden.
Frank was at a music session in Skipton this afternoon - no beer as he was driving. So I put a garden chair on the back deck and sat under the sun brolly with a cuppa then an ice lolly.  I didn’t last long out there though, it was too hot for me.
Much as we love the sunshine, things are not normal, climate change is happening right now and will get worse each year. The governments world wide need to act and so do we. Our grandchildren are the ones who will have to live with the consequences of our inaction. Fossil fuels, meat and dairy production, cutting down forests and manufacturing goods - everything from clothing to plastic and steel.
It’s easy to turn a blind eye and ignore the links and what is happening, the governments do it all the time but I can’t ignore it. I want my Grand children and their future children to have good, healthy and happy lives.
Rant over.

DUSK

Dusk falls on stubble field
rabbits and kits run and race
the fox stalks in the undergrowth
ready and waiting to give chase.
The mournful call of curlews
warn their young ‘Crouch down low!’
not only for the danger of foxes
but also the circling crows.
All the young need feeding
and protecting to live and thrive
sadly it means taking other young
to help their own survive.
Life is full of risk and danger
for creatures so young and wild
and parents will do anything
to protect their precious child.

Goodnight Blippers. Keep cool. :-)X
