This is what I was aiming for.

This is so much better than my last rather hurried attempt at shooting poppies against the light.  No clouds this time and the sun has blown out but I like the effect.  Lesson learnt - blown out clouds not so attractive as just the sun which I managed to soften a bit by getting a poppy in a good position.
