La vida de Annie

Cornia Nou.

It is an archaeological site containing remains of a Talayotic village; it was occupied during the Bronze and Iron Age, but also during the Middle Ages. It is north of 2.5 km from Mahon Road to San Clemente. The most sensational aspect of the site is the size of its tapered Talayote: it is more than 10 m high and consists of flat cyclopean stones arranged horizontally. It contains a large monumental staircase in its southern part and two constructions of concave facades, which look like taula enclosures, are leaning against two of its facades. One of these buildings was searched and tools such as hand mills, spatulas, and the remains of domestic animals were found: goats, sheep, pigs, cows, and charred cereals. Another smaller talayot ??is entirely crossed by a corridor; he seems to lean against a wall. Beside, there are two large cisterns interconnected, dug into the rock. The deposit also has two artificial funerary caves.
I met up with #2S in Mahon and we had a stroll around this site. Although he does weight-lifting he couldn't budge this rock lintel: makes you wonder how the structure was created over 2000 years ago...
