#ThrowbackThursday

An Instagram creation, #throwbackthursday is when you upload old images of yourself for fellow human enjoyment. This one is of me in Barcelona in August 2001. I had been working full-time in Southampton for a couple of years and had scraped enough money together to go travelling for six weeks. Of course, everyone else I knew was skint so I decided to go on my own. I went to various cities in Spain and Morocco and I ended up with very tanned legs.

My first mistake was to bring a fucking tent with me. I used it for the first few solitary days, reading Hemingway novels inside of it and hoping some cool people would turn up, but that was about it. I wasn't on my own for long though, because I met a bunch of Australians (what a surprise!) called Kylie, Brett and something else sounding very Aussie.

Anyway, I'm not going to go on about the whole trip because that would take bloody ages but when I found this photo it reminded me of my twenty-year-old life back then. And how care-free and easy it was!
