Breakfast at the Beach
We had to check out of the Airbnb by 10am, but we’d already decided to head out earlier as we saw this beach bar at Llanbedrog yesterday and wanted to go there for breakfast. They open at 9am and don’t take bookings, and after seeing the queues yesterday we thought it would be better to get there close to opening time.
We managed to park easily as it was early, and Llanbedrog beach is owned by the National Trust, so we were able to park for free as we’re members. The cafe was almost full but there was only one other couple ahead of us in the queue so we didn’t have to wait long to get a table. It was so hot, it felt like we were in the Mediterranean and certainly the surroundings made it feel like we were abroad - who’d have known that Wales had such fantastic beaches?
After a lovely breakfast Breakfast of Smoked Salmon & Scrambled Eggs for Alan, and Crushed Avocado, poached eggs and mushrooms for me, we went for a walk on the beach. Alan went to change into his sandals so I went down onto the beach to take some photos of the colourful beach huts (see my extras), and I saw the local vicar having his daily walk on the beach. We had a chat and he commented that he didn’t have a bad ‘office’.
The sea was so calm and the beach was really quiet, so we decided to get the beach chairs and spent the morning there - I even had my first sea swim of the year! The sea was really clear, and although it felt cold getting in, once I braved the initial dip, it was lovely!
We left about 1.30pm and went to Dînas Dinlle beach near Caernarfon. Alan went there years ago and it’s a really long strip of beach with parking the full length of it, there’s an old fort and it’s close to Caernarfon airport so there’s plenty to see. We sat and had a picnic lunch and a little wander before heading home.
We unpacked the car and then set off to Rachel’s to pick the dogs up and Rach said they were having a BBQ and asked us if we wanted to stay, so we did - these are the kind of things we missed out on when we lived in Brighton, it wasn’t possible to just ‘pop round’. We had a lovely couple of hours with them and set off home at 8.30pm and were back for 9.30pm, just in time to see the sun setting over the beach - a perfect end to the day!
