Lift off!
One of neighbours came round today (she tries to do an hour every week) to sit with Mr T while I went out for a walk. I had spotted this "pond" last Autumn and thought it was a perfect spot for dragonflies and butterflies. Well, the butterflies wouldn't settle but I spotted gate keepers, meadow browns, common blues, small skippers, small coppers and large whites. There were about two dozen dragonflies, common darters, four-spot chasers, broad bodied chasers and common hawkers all patrolling and fighting. I could have sat and watched them all day.
I've added an extra of the "pond", which I think is more for drainage but hopefully also filled by groundwater.
