Hurrah. Isle of Man government cancelled all restrictions on isolating today so we were free. Naively hadn’t considered that R’s Covid dose nearly three weeks ago would have shown up on the obligatory PCR and curtailed our holiday. We faced a £40,000 fine for leaving the garden so we didn’t.
However, had it not been so curtailed, instead of relaxing as we’ve done we’d have been rushing around the island finding things to do. In the end, it’s been five full days of just chilling and that’s what we needed with lashings of Vitamin D.
Today was Freedom day but we still don’t go out properly at 4pm.
We’d gone with a big walk in the morning from the house up to the Chasms, across to the old village of Cregneish and through the gorgeous Glen Chass, all before breakfast.
Lazed and sunbathed then ice creams were our first port of call at Port Erin. Drove up to Peel and walked around the castle. R was determined to swim but the beach had far too many jellyfish for comfort so headed back down to Port Erin for dinner, chips on the beach.
The sun was still hot at 8pm and R threw herself into the sea, sheer happiness on her face. Teenagers can be hard work but these last few days have allowed her to be a wee girl again
