Diana?
Today I visited Kensington Palace. We went through the various permanent exhibitions relating to Victoria, William and Mary etc. And then went to the exhibition - Royal Style in the Making; this explored the relationship between designers eg. Norman Hartnell and Sassoon, and various royals including the Queen mother, the Queen , Princess Margaret and Diana. Diana’s wedding dress was on show. The exhibition was interesting but not extensive and if I was not a member of the Royal Palaces I don’t think I would have gone and paid £23. We thought the queueing process was very poor and movement through the various royal apartments( which you had to do before you could go to the Royal Style exhibition) chaotic to start with. Signs in every room saying not more than eg 6 people or 10 people…no one was policing this so fairly pointless. Not good.
The people working in the cafe were also inefficient and slow( just like at Hampton court cafe!) maybe they have not been properly trained?
We then went to see the new statue…my blip shows the back view as I think that is the best likeness of Diana! See extras for other views.
It was good to go and see but not a must see.
We then went for a nice lunch at the Ivy in Kensington High Street which I have not visited before. Excellent service and very nice good value food.
A nice day out…my first outing on a tube since March 2020. It was very crowded around Earls Court and not pleasant. I did find wearing a mask for long periods today both in the exhibition and on the train journeys very tiresome and uncomfortable. I am very pleased I do not have to do a similar journey every day.
