Leirvassbu

Norway day 5
We had a last breakfast on the wonderful Jostedal campsite in Gjerde, so far the best campsite I’ve ever stayed on. It took a while to pack up, after 3 nights, there was a lot to organize, even with just 2 in a big car, we are quite full. It was really a beautiful morning, warm and sunny, first we drove the 32km back down the valley to Gaupne, where we got more supplies for the next couple of days. Driving along Lustrafjord, unbelievably a sea Fjord even so far into the mountains, was amazing, such a beautiful iridescent turquoise in the sun. The drive to Leirdal high up off the Sognefjellet road was just amazing, passing glaciated peaks and ice filled lakes. Leirdal was beautiful, we found a great spot for our tent outside the Leirvassbu mountain hostel, looking directly at Kyrchje, the peak we wanted to climb here. Arriving rather late, we had an early dinner, then had a good walk up to the Smorrdekbreen glacier, then went to the Leirvassbu hostel for a drink before bed
