Start of a new Season

After the winter break the new season at the Steam Railway started today with a reasonable number of passengers braving the heavy rain showers .

Pulling the first train is Royal Engineer seen here entering Havenstreet station where the signalman and fireman exchange the token hoops. These are safety features as without the correct token the train will not be allowed to enter the next section of the line.
As there is only one token for each section it ensures that two trains cannot be on the same section of the line at the same time. Vital on single track railways.
