We are back from Gretna Green and feeling super excited about getting married there.

We met with the wedding coordinator this afternoon, who gave us a guided tour of the facilities and pretty much answered all of my questions without me even asking!

Our choice of room for the ceremony is perfect. What we both liked is that we will stand behind the anvil and face our families for the vows. It always seems a bit daft that for most weddings, the bride and groom have their backs to the guests.

For the reception (because we are such a small group) we had been allocated a table in the main restaurant. I wasn’t keen on this idea (as nice as the restaurant is) as I assumed there would be a sectioned off bit for wedding parties, rather than just being in with regular diners or maybe even other small wedding groups.

We were offered one of the function rooms (which we’d already had a peep in), which was still available for our date. Of course it was at an extra cost, but meant we got it to ourselves from 9am to midnight. It was a much nicer set up, with lovely views of the gardens at both ends of the room, plus there’s a speaker so we can connect to that to play our own choice of music. As we won’t need a huge amount of tables, we will even have room to dance, which Laura especially will be pleased about!

We got to see the couple from last night before we left, they’d just got married so we wished each other well for the future.

Before we set off for home, we had an appointment at the Register office to collect our documents, rather than risk postage.

Our final stop was at the outlet village where Mr A wanted to see about buying a pair of Levi’s for the wedding.
Wouldn’t you know it, of all the shops there, Levi’s was the only one that was closed. Typical!
We didn’t leave empty handed though as I bagged a bargain in the Berghaus store.
I’ve been looking for a rucksack for next years trip to Borneo and found the perfect one with 75% off. It’s a ladies fit too, which means the twins will be comfortably accommodated while we are trekking.

Although we’ve only been away for a night, it’s felt much longer (in a good way) and we are both really looking forward to our next visit there. We just hope the weather is as fab as it’s been today. Though this is Scotland :-D
