Not so Mini!

A busy day of bits and bobs including taking a small boot full to the recycling centre and got charged £3 - makes my blood boil as the resulting increase in fly tipping round here must cost the  Council far more to clear than they raise in such costs. Then the garden centre for peat free compost and a shrub, which I planted when I got home. This afternoon I walked into town to return some clothes to Joules. Whilst there I thought I’d go round the annual exhibition at The Gallery by Kieron Williamson who you might remember from the news reports when he was aged 6 and dubbed the ‘mini Monet’. He grew up in Holt although no longer lives here. He’s at the exhibition most days, working and chatting to the customers. As you can see, at 18 he’s not so mini any more. Well worth a visit if you’re in the area.

Day 485 / Day 59 of Step 3 of Roadmap Easing (for my record only)
New cases were 42,302 today, up 30% in a week. Worryingly, although on the low side, other numbers that lag a few weeks behind rising new cases, are also rising. So in a week, hospital admissions are up 39%, those in hospital are up 47% and deaths are up 48%. The mandatory use of face masks is continuing in Wales as well as Scotland. Mayors in England are backing the use of face masks on public transport, with it being mandatory on Transport for London where the mayor has this  power, and will be mandatory on MCr trams. What a dog’s breakfast! In a poll, 73% of people are likely to continue to wear a face covering in shops and on public transport - not enough for me to go on public transport! Some reports of no PCR tests available to book in England, but might be a technical glitch. 1,200 scientists including 4 SAGE members have written to the Lancet accusing the Govt of pursuing an ‘unscientific’ project of ‘herd immunity by mass infection’. The PM  in the Netherlands has apologised and reimposed restrictions after cases went up by 500% in a week, referring to his ‘error of judgement’. 37% of traceable infections happened in a hospitality venue. Two thirds of adults in the UK have now had both vaccinations. The Balearic Islands are being moved to the Amber list from 4am on Mon. At the same time Bulgaria and Hong Kong are moving to the Green list. Croatia and Taiwan are going from Amber to the Green Watchlist. Cuba, Myanmar, Indonesia and Sierra Leone are moving to the Red List. Both male and female British No1 tennis players have had to withdraw from the Olympics as they caught Covid.
