Water for spuds

No rain here for a month and I’d become philosophical on the spud harvest. That was until I dug up a few plants and realised just how low the yield would be. So a bit of gravity fed watering today and yesterday from the spring water pumped up to the header tanks.

Italy’s win tonight while not emphatic was probably merited behind the agony of penalties/rigore.

I thought of our friend Siverio, the first Covid victim last year in the large province and city of Bologna. It can’t bring him back nor fill the hole his death has left in the tumbling hills and their tight communities above the Reno torrent. But hopefully he would have drawn some rueful measured joy from Italy’s victory.

Evviva Siverio.

Evviva l’Italia.
