We build an amazing compost heap today with help from Barn Nick. The initial cleaning of the compost bins is hampered by a wasps nest. I don my bee suit and shovel the nest out, but we postpone the building of the new heat until this afternoon.

Angus returns from Edinburgh with Cameron. They are collected by Tom G, who’s taking them up to Oban to go sailing with Claire. Meanwhile I cook up rabbit offal for lunch and put the rabbit proper into the slow cooker for tea.

The compost heap takes until six to complete. Then, showered, we enjoy a congratulatory gin tonic in the evening sun.

Oh, and Italy won the Euros.
