Frenchman’s Creek

Helford village on the south bank of the Helford River is about five miles from Falmouth and was the starting point for our walk today. Initially following the wrong path we walked down to the ferry crossing point over to the Ferryboat Inn we retraced our steps to the correct path and set off on the Frenchman’s Creek circular walk.

Frenchman's Creek was made famous by Daphne Du Maurier's classic and it's not hard to see why she was inspired to write about this hidden part of the Helford River. The circular walk offers a glimpse of village life, wooded valleys and sheltered creeks. Muddy underfoot following the recent rain it was really enjoyable, clean air, no traffic, no noise and beautiful scenery. Paddy thoroughly enjoyed it, especially his swim at Penarvon Cove. He is rebuilding his strength and stamina as well as extending the distance he can travel by car/van in one ‘hit’.
Another great family day.

We finished up with a fish & chip dinner.
