Heroes

I was going to go out first thing to look at the scarecrows in our street but what started as a bit damp became quite wet!
By mid afternoon it was dry and hot so Chris and I walked around the main part of the village en route to him meeting his friend at the pub.

Our village Scarecrow Festival had the theme of heroes. Lots of NHS representations and fire, police and fell rescue service people too together with some excellent less obvious ones plus footballers - not sure about that!

My choice for today was this one as it represents our village post master and mistress whose shop has been open throughout the whole of the pandemic. They have worked for the whole village’s benefit and we’ve been very pleased to have them there for us. 

We didn’t get to the further extremities of the village but it’s on again tomorrow so you may be seeing more then!

A great effort by all involved with funds being raised for our local Sue Ryder Hospice.

I joined friends in the garden of the pub for a nice interlude, the first time I’ve been since a year last March!
