Days of Thankfulness

By kirstysee

I am thankful for our local farmers market.
Sunday morning shopping.

I'm in full support of the rising popularity of farmers markets. They are spaces where community can gather, access fresh and seasonal food, support local business and speak to producers themselves. Anything to get people out of supermarkets! Plus they have a kilometer radius for where food is grown so carbon footprints stay reasonably low.

Our local market, which is on once a month and organised by Rotary, just celebrated its 15th birthday. I was one of the draw cards of buying a house where we did. I like saying hello to the regular stallholders and familiar faces from my neighbourhood. Charlie loves it too because he gets to say hello to all the local dogs. And my husband loves it as he often stays in bed and I bring him home a delicious breakfast (this morning it was apricot sourdough fruit bread and a sultana scone).

I hope everyone supports their local farmers markets.
