Calm Before the Storm
Overcast and warm today with periods of sunshine. You would never know there is a tropical storm heading our way. I awoke around 4:30 am, thinking about storm prep here and at home. By 5:40, I got up and started picking up stuff outside and filling a few pans with water in case we lose electric power. Once my daughter’s house was prepared, I headed home and did the same. Hubby went to my mother’s to ensure she was ready and that there was nothing outside that could cause an issue. I happened to notice red blackberries along the property line. As you can see, there were many ripe ones. Usually the birds eat them the moment they are ripe. So then I picked more blueberries. My harvest has been incredible. Two days ago, I searched for zucchini but the plant is so large and dense, they hide from me. Same with the squash. Since we are predicted to get winds up to 35-45 mph with 2-4 inches of rain, I decided I’d better get pictures of all my flowers before they are ruined tonight. Here are a few of the current bloomers. Some have friends visiting for nectar. Sky called and asked me to bring her home from a friend’s. She is taking a technology class this summer and it begins today. I gave her chicken salad, slaw, blueberries and a crab cake for lunch so she was a very happy girl. Hubby is bringing me pizza for dinner; so tired of leftovers. Then he is hoping the storm will hold off until he returns from the next county where he is attending funeral prayers for a friend. We are in a tornado watch. They have come through this neighborhood before. See you on the other side of Elsa.
