PLUMERIA

This deciduous shrub is native to Mexico, Central America & the Caribbean, but can grow as far north as Florida, in the US.
It is also called FRANGIPANI.

I am surprised, because I always associate Hawaii with these flowers. When visiting Hawaii, visitors are often given a lei made with white, yellow, pink or red flowers
from PLUMERIA..

I am also surprised they grow in this dry, parched area of Southern California, when they seem to favor the tropics.

Beautiful plants grow in the most unlikely
places.
