Coming home (us not football..)

Yesterday we drove to Poppit Sands near Cardigan and explored the rock pools and sat listening to the waves. We had lunch on the beach and then grabbed a drink at the pub on the road back up the estuary. We stopped off in the town of Cardigan for a mooch around which was nice. We picked up a couple of interesting finds in local shops.

We seemed to have had the best of the weather again as it was a bit drizzly when we got back to the cottage. We popped in the tub during a break in the rain before dinner. We decided to cook our own food as we had stuff we had brought and our host had encouraged us not to waste anything. We had bruschetta and salad which was just perfect. We sat for a while after dinner reading and with one eye on the football. There is no TV in the cottage so we had it on the IPad. We noticed the weather had cleared so we decided to spend the rest of the evening the tub. We enjoyed listening to the birds give their evening chorus and saw a few bats and bunnies. We had a lovely discussion about future holiday destinations and only came in when we had had enough - which was pretty late. Lovely.

So today we packed up and headed for home. We took the scenic route through Brecon and the Usk Valley. Very lovely. We grabbed a sandwich in Abergavenny and then the last bit of the journey went quicker. Home in time for our son coming back from school and dinner together before the England Denmark Semi Final.

And good news: my son has been invited for his vaccine. He’s 18 in September so they must be getting ahead. There’s a lot of Covid around here so it’s a good thing.

Stay safe x
