Hear no tennis
Today was devoted to watching tennis. Our friend Graham always told us that you see the best tennis in the middle weekend of a grand slam tournament, so we follow his advice.
Watching Wimbledon in Australia is a bit of a challenge because of the time difference. Practically everything we watch is recorded and viewed after the match has been played. This means that we have to try very hard to avoid any news broadcasts, or comments from friends, which would tell us results.
Consequently for a while we knew nothing of two quite momentous events that occurred in Bowral over the last couple of days. There was a serious fire in Bong Bong Street, the main street, which destroyed a bank, two restaurants and several shops. And two Bowral shopkeepers were arrested because they refused to comply with the regulations for mask wearing.
We feel so sorry for the people affected by the fire. But we have no sympathy at all for the mask refusers.
