Heavy Seas
High tide was a couple of hours earlier, but watching this from a safe distance was rather scary. Numerous photos were taken and any number would suffice to tell the story.
Our country is in the grips of a polar blast, with snow down to low levels all over the show, our foothills had a splattering but nothing too much. Further south and inland have had lots, in readiness for the school holidays and ski fields. As this shows we had sunshine but gale force southerly winds.
The sad story is the Australian and NZ travel bubble has been put on hold because much of Australia are having a resurgences of Covid. High percentages of booking have had to be cancelled, such a shame as towns like Queenstown were well booked with Australians for the school holidays with many wanting to go skiing. Feel for those places, the lows, the highs and the lows.
Wellington goes back down to Level 1 tonight.....thankfully, no community covid outbreak from the Australian tourist that visited while infected 10 days ago. Dodged a bullet I think.
Just heard that Townsville and Magnetic Island are in lockdown…..in Kaylene’s words “ Yep. Some doofus from Brisbane came up for a few days (sick) and thought it was a good idea to trip about. She is a hospital admin at a Covid ward (unvaccinated) and didn’t think to stay home when sick and get tested. It’s the delta strain too.” Will we ever get over there, obstacles and more obstacles? Thankfully both Kaylene and Aidan have had the Pfizer vaccinations.
