what's in a name

I was first introduced to this lovely wild flower as "Butter and Eggs." I think it is a great description of the different colors of yellow. The flowers do look like a nice yellow egg yolk sitting a pat of butter. Now I've come to find out that it is also called Common Toadflax, hardly a pretty name!
