Not a bad place to retire...

I do like a good "P&O".  In the States (and perhaps elsewhere) this style of architecture is called "Streamline Moderne"?  Anyway, this style was very popular in Sydney "between the wars" and is know as "P&O" (after the shipping company).  Also known as "nautical deco".

This is not a particularly good example and I'm pretty sure it was built well after WWII - perhaps the 70s.  It's found in a very (very) large retirement village where my mother-in-law lives.

Most surviving "P&O" in Sydney is found in family homes although there're flashes of it in commercial buildings that have somehow survived demolition.  I do miss the old petrol stations!
