Telegraph Quay
It was a grey overcast morning and a day for monochrome, but when I came across this pole with its faded rust pitted red I felt if I saturated the reds through the camera it would be a nice contrast against the turmoil of the grey sky.
This is a multipurpose pole, it is a telegraph pole, a lamp standard and I suspect has had some navigation function in days gone by. I can imagine it in is heyday, bright red, sparkling against the shimmering water of the river, not now, forgotten on a derelict section of quay on the banks of the River Clyde, a sad reminder of the past of a once great river. You can see how the bollard for tying up ships is sunk so far into the quay but has been exposed due to the erosion from the inclement weather over the years.
