Wound up in Wexford

White bryony

Yet another day spent in the house and garden.  Though I did go to Bermuda on my static cycle.

Continuing the theme of weeds uncultivated plants, this climbing plant is the only British native of the marrow/cucumber family.  It is common in the south and east, rare as you go north.  Here, it is clambering with wild abandon in our hedge.

Apparently, it is poisonous, but the green striped petals are rather pretty, I think.

Many thanks to Cailleach for keeping the fun Wild Wednesday theme going.
