we are having stunning weather
It is as unusually nice for this time in June as the western US is unusually hot

One of the most wonderful things in my life is air conditioning. I grew up in Missouri where people died from heat every summer. I now live in Maryland which gets nasty hot and humid too but nowadays more people have AC so fewer people die. 

Willis Carrier is credited with inventing modern air conditioning, which of course requires electricity. He deserves a statue. 

However, prior to air conditioning clever and rich people had invented ways to cool things down. I was in Pakistan in the Lahore Fort. There was an area that was cooled with water underneath the royalty and fountains that shot over them. 

Rich people in Rome circulated water through their walls. 

The earliest examples of courtyard houses, which increase airflow which decreases the temperature, were in Mesopotamia. Ancient Greece and Rome had atriums. 

If you don't have AC
- Drink, esp mint tea
- Chill sheets and/or pillowcases in the freezer or refrigerator
- Lukewarm showers (not cold - your body will work to warm you up if you take a cold shower)
- Put your socks in the freezer, ideally with your feet in them
