Sow How Tarn

Very pleased you liked yesterday’s shot of Troutbeck.

Today was a little easier in terms of distance and altitude. First there was the blipmeet at Fell Foot, the National Trust park at the southern end of Windermere.

There we renewed acquaintance with Clickchick, Jerra and Fastapature and met Flavia13 and Cumbrialass (and Fletch the dog) for the first time. Much talking, of course as well as many photographs as we walked around the Park and meadow.

We procured the last three sandwiches for lunch and decided to have a trip on the Lakeside and Hatherthwaite Railway and back, sitting on the dockside between trains with a cup of tea.

The day was rounded off with a short jog up Gummer’s How for superb panoramic views of great swathes of the Lake District to the west and to the north. From the summit we descended back to the road and set out for Sow How Tarn, reckoned to be high on the list of picturesque tarns despite it being an artificial fish pond! The tarn makes the main blip, with a collage of the rest of the day included as an extra.
