Sally Mair - Loving life

Delphinium blue

What a beautiful day today. We went out late morning for a run and lunch and, ended up back at Smeaton. It's such a lovely place. We wandered round the plant area then sat and had lunch in the sunshine. Lots of chaffinches and blackbirds singing their hearts out. We wandered off through the sheep field and round the lake. Lots of flies around but no biting midges than goodness. The lake looked beautiful in the dappled light a good selection of ducks, geese and moorhens in evidence and a wren too.

We drove home and then sat in the garden at home. These delphiniums won the blip place, such a wonderful blue against the sky! There are just so many things to showcase just now. The blackcurrants are turning dark, the Philadelphus (mock orange) is lovely, I've had it in a pot for a couple of years and it's flourishing.

Ali came over to watch the football this evening, which we are doing now. So fingers crossed.

Keep safe everybody, interesting news about the covid rules changing. I think I'll be playing - better safe than sorry - for a while yet.
