House wren special delivery

The nestlings are beginning to poke their beaks out of the hanging wren nest box. Mama and Papa Wren have an endless delivery route to the nest with found insects, moths and a side order of spider to satisfy those gapping beaks. Generations of wren couples return to our garden each spring.

A small hanging nest box made by my dad at our house next door is one of my first childhood bird memories. My mother always called them "Jenny Wren", female and male as I do now.
