After the Rain….

The rain has stopped and the wind is dying down. Here is the view looking towards the distant Richmond Range from the road at the top of the Taylor Dam early this afternoon. There has been some very nasty stormy weather in some parts of the country with a tornado in South Auckland and flooding on parts of the east coast of the North Island.
Here… it was a very rough night. The cold south-easterly wind howled and whistled around the house. It’s cries echoed in the chimney. Our big trees screamed their protests. It sounds crazy but I had a window slightly open in the bedroom…. To especially hear the rain. We have a tiled roof and lots of insulation in the roof space and it is hard to hear the rain on the roof. As a child I used to love listening to the rain on the corrugated iron roof when I was cosily tucked up in bed…
