Father's day or a day spent with father.

An early start today , do the covid test , pack the various birthday presents to be delivered , sort out food for the day and various bits of clothing in case the weather changes , as it usually does, walk Bramble then deliver her to Jess for the day and then ........ we were ready .
We have driven over 300 miles today in order for me to spend some time with my dad for a few hours in his room rather than the garden shed as the government now allow a person in a care home to have 5 nominated visitors. There are six of us but sssh
We popped into see my brother Joe and his wife who made us a snack then Dave visited my sister and another brother , dropping off birthday gifts[ and picking some up too I noticed }
Its been lovely to reconnect despite it all being a bit of a rush .

I had been warned that my dad has been exhausted for the last few days and was very sleepy. He barely showed interest in anything throughout our time together [ not even the video call with my sister) but managed to raise his head so I could take this shot. He did take some pleasure from the red roses that I took , they remind him of my mum who carried them on their wedding day , she is never far from his thoughts.
It was lovely, and peaceful to in its own way ,to hang out with him as so much of our recent contact has been very intense , either online or condensed into a 30 minute slot with barriers between us . I put Handel's Messiah on for a while as he really loves listening to it and knitted some more dishcloths. I read him the cards that he had been sent for Fathers day, tidied around his room and tried to engage his interest . I think today he just needed to sleep .

We had a chippy tea on the local park  before driving home, the second this week! I think i’ve eaten sufficient chips now to last me for quite a while .
