Time to go home .
I can’t remember whether I mentioned the mysterious appearance of a tadpole in my small aquarium .
Before we went on holiday we collected some pond water from a pond we often visit thinking that we would go back later and collect some frogspawn so that Arthur could watch the metamorphosis of the tadpole into a frog . We bought a lovely book for toddlers that showed the process and were very excited !
However, when we returned to the pond all the frogspawn had disappeared. What a disappointment !
Sometime after our return from our holiday i happened to notice some movement in the aquarium , a tadpole shape flitting around no less. when I looked more closely there was one ,very stout tadpole, hiding beneath some green algae .
Ive no idea what happened and how it came to be there , it’s a complete mystery .
We thought we would return it to its original pond before it grew much bigger to give it a better chance of survival and tonight was the night . We have taken a video to show Arthur and hopefully by next year we will have our own little pond with all the necessary features for the raising of a few tadpoles. Our plot is quite near a river and would be an ideal place for frogs to hide in the long grass round and about .
