"The PENCIL"
On 12 July 1912, the battle of Largs was commemorated with the unveiling of a newly built stone tower. Popularly known as "The Pencil", this 70 feet tall, pencil-shaped, conical-roofed tower is built out of ashlar blocks of whinstone. Constructed by architect James Sandyford Kay at the cost of nearly £300. This is our walk, we park at the Marina and walk along the shore path round the boat pond and normally into Nardini's for a Cuppa and a scone or fish n' chips or maybe just an ice cream ( Scottish Tablet flavoured) Today's Blip is of the Pencil at Largs taken on my mobile and I still wish for some warmer weather.
