The road to Knockvologan
We made the most of a dry morning and strolled down to Knockvologan, one of my favourite beaches in the Ross of Mull. The tide was going out and it would have been possible to cross to Erraid with plenty of time to explore. The forecast for the afternoon was dire so as an alternative after a visit to the Ardalanish Weavers to buy some of their organic Hogget cutlets, an Ardalanish lamb pasty for lunch (and some ice cream for pudding tonight) we returned to Suidhe.
I ventured out alone in the afternoon hoping to see another otter this time at Camas Tuath. The conditions were ideal, heavy rain completely obscuring me, and a mid tide. No luck and after an hour or so I returned totally drenched to the car. On the way I met a cheery woman with a truculent toddler and a baby in a backpack which made my exodus to the car seem very tame.
The remains of a granite quarry are on the other side of the bay, not so pink or as picturesque as Tormore, interesting none the less with the old railway still intact. I think it might be possible to get there at a very low tide.
